Greater Lowell Baseball Umpires Association
Accepting High School Assignments
When accepting a high school game assignment, no matter what level (freshman, JV or Varsity), members of our board are obligated to stay and complete that game. They are NOT to take a non-high school game which is scheduled to be played after their high school game if they are not leaving enough time between games to travel. Under NO circumstances are they to leave their high school game early to accommodate the other assignment. If the GLBUA e-board hears reports about umpires leaving high school games early or not showing up to work their high school game due to double-booking, the matter will be investigated and proper disciplinary actions taken. High school ball is top priority in the GLBUA. On the flip side, they are NOT to accept high school assignments if they would rather work the other leagues. The high school assignors put a lot of time into assigning high school games via the Arbiter and are held ultimately responsible for game coverage by the Athletic Directors.
